Among the work-related stresses an employee has to face, healthcare seems to be at the top of the list. According to statistics, employees worry about paying for their coverage, they worry about their employer raising rates, and they worry about a decrease in their coverages. This concern and stress no doubt affects the health and productivity of a company’s employees, which in turn, affects the bottom line. While many companies believe they may be saving money by decreasing the company’s costs in regards to providing less comprehensive health insurance coverage, or by increasing the amount of money each employee must contribute. However, the resulting stress and loss of productivity may outweigh these savings in the long run.
