Small business owners such as Jody Hall recognize the importance of offering group health insurance to their employees. However, Hall faces costs for health insurance which rival the costs of maintaining three branch locations combined. On top of already high costs, Hall faces a major increase each year, this year being an astounding 40%. These costs leave many small businesses with the difficult decision of increading costs to employees, lowering the quality of coverage, or eliminating the coverage altogether. Since America is made up largely of these small businesses, the insurance woes of each company contribute to the millions of Americans without coverage or with inadequate coverage. What needs to change so that small businesses can provide for their employees, or for the employees to be able to secure affordable coverage through other means?
