The debate of the structure and delivery system of our nation’s health care system continues to rage on, with many different sectors chiming in with an opinion. In regards to the proposed government centered plan, hospitals in particular are concerned with a plan which is strictly government based, as it may affect their reimbursement rates. As it stands now, hospitals often have to fight for the reimbursements they receive for Medicare patients, and in spite of their efforts, the rate keeps going lower. If our health insurance system were to be dominated by a government based plan, hospitals fear that their profits will suffer too greatly to survive. They are more in support of private insurance for all who can get it, and a government plan for those who can’t. But what are the problems inherent in either system?
