In an effort to bring down costs for small businesses, Humana introduced a program in Colorado which would reward the employees of small businesses for making small steps toward a healthier lifestyle. These employee wellness programs are a step in a certain prevention and wellness direction. Recognizing that long term health, and fewer health care costs, are the result of good daily habits, Humana will offer participants points for health risk assessments and preventative care which can be redeemed for gift cards and other incentives.
