Suprising to some, but not to others, recent polls show that small business owners place concerns about the cost of health care over other important issues such as taxes and the credit crisis. The cost of offering health coverage to their employees, and the decision of whether to do it at all, are top priority for most small businesses. Without the large number of employees of bigger companies, most small businesses are faced with extremely high premiums for health insurance plans. This forces them to either forego offering the coverage to their employees at all, or requiring their employees to pay an extremely high percentage of this cost. With a sagging economy, and business slowing for everyone, these costs are becoming even more out of reach than before. Will Obama be able to turn things around and make health insurance something everyone can access, or will it always remain a challenge for small employers?
