Obama has been openly inviting contributions from the public on ways that our nation’s health care system can be improved. The overwhelming majority are leaning toward a universal health care structure present in the majority of other developed nations. While many are not willing to abandon the current system of employer based health insurance, skyrocketing costs and steadily rising unemployment are leading an unprecedented number of Americans to be without health insurance. If our country used other nations as a model, could we successfully move away from the current employer based system and create health care that remains with the individual regardless of employment and other factors? Is this an obtainable dream?
