Just to set the record straight, one of the biggest misleading, provocative claims made in the health insurance debate is that the legislation includes provisions to encourage the elderly to commit suicide. This is simply not true. The House bill states that it would give senior citizens on Medicare the choice to have a one on one meeting with their doctor for an advance care planning discussion every three years to talk about different option if they should become terminally ill or unable to make medical decisions on their own.
