If reform progresses the way Barack Obama and his head of health insurance reform Tom Daschle plan, there may be some dramatic changes in store. While Obama promised that those who were happy with their current coverage could choose to keep it, this looks unlikely. If the government is providing a superior coverage, as it plans, we will quickly see private health insurance offerings dissapearing. Also, more government control will spell less freedom and control over health care choices for the individual. Many fear that certain procedures will be deemed not cost efficient and terminated, although they may be potentially life saving. How do you think increased government control will affect the average person’s ability to make health care choices? Is the quest for universal coverage going to come at the expense of the individual?
