Because Obama’s stimulus package was passed so quickly, it left a large number of people scrambling to understand all the ramifications of the action. A large part of the stimulus was a federal subsidy to pay for COBRA, insurance which is available to those who have lost their jobs. Previously, COBRA was cost prohibitive for many people, as it requires a person to pay 100% of the cost without any assistance from their former employer. The stimulus has put COBRA in reach of many more people, but all the details were not initially clear. Thursday brought an announcement which clarified many of those details for both employees and employers alike. Do you think that many more people will choose to benefit from health insurance now that the government will be assisting in paying for it?
