The right for workers to form unions has been a longstanding one in this country, but in recent years the practice has declined. For whatever reasons we can attribute this decline, many are saying that a resurgence in union activity could go a long way in protecting the rights and benefits of America’s working force. One of the biggest topics of today revolves around employer provided health insurance which has seen drastic changes in the last few years, few of them in favor of the employee. Many employers have dropped health insurance coverages altogether, leaving workers in a vulnerable position and affecting their finances and security. Do you think that a resurgence in union activity could work to bring positive changes to employees and their ability to procure good health insurance benefits? Or has the time of unions passed, and there are too many other issues facing the economy which will prevent them from being effective?
